Gone With The Wind is my all time favorite, but have to admit I have watched Murphys Romance,African Queen,and the Thorn Birds more than once,actually more than several times never imagined I would be one of those people who say "they just dont make em like they used to" but it is true.

Tough question; it would be easier if we listed movies by genre, but overall those I seem to end up watching repeatedly are... A Room With A View Fool Killer Goodbye, Mr. Chips (O'Toole/Clarke version) Brother Sun, Sister Moon 2001: A Space Odyssey Romeo and Juliet (Franco Zeffereli) Map of the Human Heart Fifth Element Groundhog Day Madame Curie GATTACA The Story of Louis Pasteur The Story of Alexander Graham Bell LOTR (Lord of the Rings trilogy -I am still surprised they adapted the books so well) It's A Wonderful Life (every Winter Solstice: as much a family tradition with my lot as wassail and eggnog!) ...and all of Sabu's old films (Jungle Book, Elephant Boy, Black Narcissus, Drums, and so on) -plus- (they are TV serials but I watch them on DVD, except for the newest episodes of LOST) House LOST Rome That 70's Show By the way, for genuine movie buffs I recommend signing up with Bruce Hershenson's online movie club. Please, do esteem us with a list of specific titles significant to you, even just the top ten or so as others have done, if you can possibly spare the time. I am not being catty; I know which films I consider to contain "copious amounts of sex, drugs, rock & roll, and violence" but have discovered many others have a very different view of things, quite apart from my own. Violence, in particular, shows up very differently for one person and other. To some, for example, violence seems only to consist of physical brutality -whereas to others "violence" includes bullying in cyberspace, such as where the kindness and heartfelt sharing of others is denigrated and discounted as trivial or worthless. That, to me, is violence of a sort and as such is frankly quite repugnant. It is so much easier to tear down than to create, to hide and obscure than to reveal and share. I was trying to inject some humor, and I should have noted that all 4 of my viewing enjoyments are not required in order for me to appreciate a single movie. In fact, 90% of everything listed in this posting fits my criteria. One stipulation that I should have included is that the movies have a happy ending. For example, I enjoyed the first 2 "Alien" movies (hardly any sex, no drugs or rock and roll) but I HATED the last episode because it started with an unhappy note. Chick flicks are not my thing; nor was the graphic violence as depicted in the Passion of the Christ. I should also add that "Gunga Din" and "Network" are among my 2 favorite movies of all time. The sex was minimal, there was no rock and roll, the violence was sedate by today's standards, and it's up to the individual to decide whether "Gunga Din" had a happy ending. "Network" was a brilliant dark comedy and I take exception with the ending. Also included in my "top 10" are "Go" and "Charlie Wilson's War", both of which have all my requirements plus sort-of happy endings. Nuff said.
