I hate that there are lowlifes still doing things like this. I gotta say though that it's lots better than it was twenty years ago. Most of the subdivisions were pigstys then, junk everywhere. Entire blocks on F and G road in Haw'n Acres were lined with seemingly hundreds of dead cars. Still, it was a great place to shop for free auto parts and I admit I shopped there several times!

Well good luck with your project.

We had a similar deal in our neighborhood. We caught someone stealing a sign board. We had a security camera that took a picture of this person in the act.The person was recognized by us and we called the police. We were told that the prosecutors would have to make a determination whether to prosecute or not.
Two years later the prosecutor called and said that he had enough evidence to proceed and wanted to know if we wanted to pursue the case any further.
WTF we originally just wanted the sign board back. Why couldn't the police just have gone to this persons house and gotten it back???

The picture just shows a couple of guys and a truck. They could have been picking that stuff up instead of dumping it.

Any way I will be looking forward to updates from you in several years !!

Hi Obie,
The picture confirms only the people and the truck was at the scene. However the two people reporting are eye witnesses to the action.
Your experience sounds discouraging but I won't let it discourage me. Why did you wait two years for the prosecutor to call you. You should have been persistent, insistent, and called him every day to nag him into action. I agree that individual events can be swept under the rug but consistent, persistent, and diligent effort will make a difference.

Please be mindful as to your advocacy ... this is what it led to in England

I don't see the connection between mindful citizens reporting crimes and the British government snooping into private emails and phone records as described in the Reuters article. Thanks to decades of Irish Republican and now Islamic terrorism, the British have a different perspective (and constitutional system.) Those of us in Neighborhood Watch are taught to be observant without interfering in what should be left to the Police. Of course, there will always be individuals who take things too far, but I don't see the type of citizen activity described at the start of this thread as a threat to anyone's civil liberties.
