Has anybody actually seen this? Sounds like a possible urban legend.
If I walk along the shore I can pick up more coconuts than I could possibly need,
why would someone bother chopping down the tree? I'm not saying it's not true, but
where's the evidence?
Although, a few years ago I did see a coconut tree that was half chopped down
(they got halfway through the trunk) and next to it was the cardboard sheath of
a brand new machette from Ace Hardware. I could only imagine it was a tourist
pursuing some bizarre fantasy before someone told them to stop.
