In the past few weeks I have noticed what seems to be a new wave of trucks with big overhanging tires- many extending over 6 inches past the wheel well and of course no mud flaps.
Not sure why this is a fashion statement but from a safety standpoint they throw rocks and splash rainwater at anyone who follows them.
This isn't just at the beach- they are driving Keaau-Pahoa road as well as the Hilo Highway and I haven't seen any police pulling them over.
If someone takes a photo of someone driving one of these rigs on public roads will the police ticket them? Any experience with that?
I would love to see a new law with huge fines against any auto shop that converts a standard truck to an illegal menace. A $10,000 fine would probably stop most of them from doing the conversions.
