Continuing the Punaweb tradition of complaining about drivers:
I've had the occasion the last couple days to be driving back into Hilo at around 6:30 during the rain. Yesterday I counted over ten oncoming cars either with no headlights on or with only parking lights on. Counted a lesser number tonight, but still significant. In each case I flashed my high beams to signal them to turn their $%#@ing lights on, without, as far as I could determine, any effect whatsoever. These people are accidents waiting to happen. You would think that with the number of fatal accidents at cross streets along this highway, drivers would have their lights on at least a half hour before sundown without fail, right?
For one thing, I'm amazed that police allow people to drive with parking lights on around here. Maybe I can get a few more people willing to be as obnoxious as I am. If you see someone without lights, or with only parking lights on at dusk, flash your high beams. The life you save might be...
