I stepped in a pothole at work and factured my ankle in 2008. A piece of bone in the shape of a sharks tooth carved into my ankle cartilage and conective tissue for a year after the accident. I couldn't walk for mor than 30 minutes without being swollen and unable to walk for about three days. I finally had surgery to remove the loose bone fragments and reshape the cartilage and "bone ends" that were chewed up by the shark tooth shaped bone fragment. My first night post-op at 2:30am I'm making my way to the restroom, high on percosets, I feel off my crutches and landed cleanly on my right buttocks. This fall tore my hip "labrum" and caused swelling in the area of the pysatic nerve. I was in serious pain but I wasn't getting better. The meds had me so constipated I was "going" maybe once a week. I was in bad shape post-op. The doctor recomended "Celebrex" and he handed me a half dozen boxes of pills. These pills were "free" of course. I didn't take the pills at first. I thought I could " tough" my way through the pain. I don't wish that pain on anyone. I beggd to die it hurt so much. I couldn't even roll over in bed. I broke down and took the "Celebrex" and it did everything it said it would. I was moving around in 4 days and I finally got a break from the pain. One nasty little side effect of this medication is weight gain. I gained 35 pounds in about 8 months trying to rehab. I could literally feel myself growing bigger but I couldn't stop taking "Celebrex" because I still had pain issues. I told my doctor "Celebrex" is like crack, it's so addictive. He just laughed and said " I use it too". A snafu happened with the pharmacy and they sent me a bill for a refill of "Celebrex", it was $12 a pill. I was was so done with big Pharm and all the corperate greed at that point.
A friend recomended MMJ to me after learning about my situation. I obtained adoctors "script & recommendation" and began treating my injury with MMJ. After 10 months, I lost the 35 pounds and actually played a game of basketball with my kids. I'm still healing three years later but for me MMJ was the best pain med I could find. I agree with the recomendation of stretching, it helps loosen your joints. (no pun intended). It's not for everyone and you should learn about the types of MMJ and what the do for you. I was in your deep set of pain so I know. You have bone and muscle pain. Look for indica buds, they will ease your pain and allow you to stretch and loosen up. I have had the " rub" in my ribcage for years and when I smoke indica buds I can stretch my ribs by breathing deeply and it "cracks" my ribs like a person cracking their knuckles. You also need intensive message treatments too in order to get the right energy flowing within you. You should look into getting a hand massager they work wonders. Good luck to you and again, it's not for everyone but some people really do and have benefitted from MMJ.
