Some of the top electric appliances here:
refrigerators, esp. older ones - always check the energy rating on these, as similar looking units can vary alot in the energy use...& keep the condenser dust free
water pumps, for well & catchment users.... a small leak can really add up the electric use
heating & cooling the air & water & cooking- check into lower energy use or solar appliances (ie:attic vent fans, solar water heat...)
Dishwashers - some of these have low energy use settings , but most have pumps & heaters that are energy hungry
even the TV can have huge energy fluxes - CRT & plasma screens are energy hogs, LED not so much & the size of the screen does matter....
