This is so funny, I have to admit that my request was for a weed whacker for my husband to run.
I drive to Hilo 190 days a year to work with 88 kids from 11 to 15, he gets to hang out at home and walk dogs, plant trees, cook, and weed whack, when he isn't being a substitute teacher somewhere. I used to have that role when we lived in the Willamette Valley, we had 1/3 of an acre of 5 foot deep river bottom over sand; the grass there grows 5 ft. a year over about 5 months. Back then I loved my Honda mower, and I am a whiz with a hand grass whip, but my SO gets to keep this place weed whacked. We ended up with a Honda 25cc 4 stroke 4 cycle which he likes because it is relatively quiet and you don't have to put oil in the gas, so it burns clean. It is a little underpowered for tall stuff, and a little heavier than the same powered 2 stroke so if we were to do it again he would prefer the next bigger model which has a little more oomph.
I still want the right combo of herbivores to replace the weed whacker for the back two thirds of the acre, but haven't quite figured out what mix of animals yet. Meat animals are off the table due to the vegan half of the household's moral/ethical positions.
