power sprayer/painting recommendations
#6
hey julie. i have painted 2 houses myself, after getting bids from the pros and about falling over. one was new construction. i bought a wagner sprayer from HD, it cost about 180 and boy was it worth it. i primed the whole place then painted. what everyone really liked was i did the entire eve of roof so instead of seeing the white underside of the tin, it was the same color as the rest of the eve. if i had tried to do that by hand, what a job that would have been.. by the second house, the sprayer quit, but for the money it was outstanding.. this year we went to get another and they no longer carry the wagner but have a blue one and we did the same thing. this time, old construction and we had to power wash. i bought the husky hd brand again about 180 bucks, electric and it is a piece of ****. didnt even do one job. so, i guess i would rent the power washer, but the paint sprayer is totally worth it. i also have a little hand held wagner sprayer i have had for well over 30 years which is wonderful for touch up but the little paint tub only holds about a quart so alot of refills if doing a big job, they come with bigger and bigger paint tubs, but then if you are lifting it over your head it gets heavy really fast.(i am an old lady not alot of upper arm strenght) i use that on small jobs like my chicken house or shed. anyway i really recommend the electric paint sprayers, and get about 50 feet of hose and a helper and you are all set to go[Big Grin] as far as paint i like the benjamin moore at hpm, i like behr ok, but dont like the paint/primer all in one. worth the money to add the anti mildew stuff also i think...
