Carey,
I wasn't ragging on Starbucks, just surprised to see them "adopting" a stretch of road to cleanup that is so far from any of their stores. The Pahoa bypass near HAAS is miles and the Kea'au bottleneck away from their nearest store. Just the logistics of doing the cleanup seems more complicated and time consuming when there are unadopted stretches of road so much closer to the various Hilo Starbucks.
NAPA I'm surprised about, I didn't think Pahoa and lower Puna had enough people for a corporate store to move in, and more surprised they didn't rent one of the empty spaces in Malama Marketplace. Wasn't the Tin Shack coffe shop once a chain auto parts store?.
