While I agree that there has been no proof offered to support the "anti science" label being applied to the Senator I can't, in good conscience, accept this logic;
"Ruderman earned his BS in biology from Pennsylvania State University. Can't label him as anti-science in any truthful manner."
That would be like saying an atheist could not have ever been conferred a Doctorate of Divinity. (https://richarddawkins.net/2014/12/after...od-exists/)
Now if Pahoated could rouse himself from his obstinacy and do the Search of The Google that he has suggested others to do then we may have some grist for the mill, assuming the videos bear out his statements. I've done a few cursory searches and not found the incriminating statements....

I'm in general agreement with JohnDW's position and have alluded to same in prior posts (one of which was "Moderated" for some still unexplained reason). However you make a valid comparison of a liberal college town in a conservative state; e.g. Austin as a preserve of sanity in the madness that is Texas (the lunacy of the Punanan's amidst the stolidness of the remaining Eastsiders?) Your key observation though is your last one, "to be effective and get re-elected"... He won his race with a plurality so a re-election is not a certainty and the issue of whether he can forge alliances and gain effectiveness at the Lege remains to be seen. I believe this fundraiser is a step in the right direction.
