A very low fare bus system subsidized by the county is a great benefit to the area. It doesn't go to the airport because that would hurt the taxi, shuttle, rental car and parking area businesses. For Puna, if regular stops at the airport were made, then the bus would be like the first shuttle in getting to the airport, all you have to do is walk on with your luggage. It would only benefit Puna convenience. As a matter of fact, I don't recall ever seeing public buses in Portland going through the airport either.
