East Hawaii Hospitals Face Layoffs
#23
An incredible amount of people move here for our generous health care system, mostly because it's free to them. Lots of families of disabled as in Down syndrome also move here as well for the benefits. I know 2 women with a Down syndrome adult children, moved here and applied for benes, got turned down then sued the state and get 100K a year each forever, thanks to the Hawaii state taxpayers. Neither believed in getting tested while pregnant. Why bother when you can abuse the system and get hard working people to hand money over to you for free.

I also notice an inordinate amount of locals and transplants around here and elsewhere, who do not take care of themselves resulting in a huge burden to the medical services. Flagrant abuse to their bodies. No exercise, poor eating habit etc.. These types are siphons on any economy and medical community. A neurologist told me he mostly sees patients who have damaged themselves from a lifetime of drugs and/or other physical abuses.

Thanks to those who care not for themselves and burden the system and the individuals and families who do care enough and need occasional help. The responsible people will now have more trouble getting help when they need it.

Diabetes runs rampant on this island also. It's common knowledge learned in elementary school to not abuse sugar or you will become diabetic. Hard to fathom such a high percentage of Americans have so little self control and choose to live a life dominated by prescription drugs. Whatever.
