On the flip side, this trip here has been an education that I cannot be on my own either. Home health services, which I worked in years ago, is a life line for many. If they close the psych unit, what happens to those patients' needs? Is there a state hospital? Crises units that have trained staff to deal with a suicidsl, psychotic, or manic patient? As to our dilemma with local health care facilties, our State of Hawai'i must make some drastic changes. Sooner than later, please.
