much of what is perceived mental illness is not it is due to drug abuse. long term and even some short term abuse that has created dysfunctional people . the mental health area of hilo hospital has more psychotic drug users then actual "mental " health cases.people that have been up high on ice for days many , many of the homeless are on the street because their illegal drug consumption uses up their rent and living money thus they get kicked out of their apartment/house and wind up on the street, and commit crimes and become a drain on society.
