There are also long stretches going over to Kona that are two lanes but the right lane is a do not use, apparently for emergencies only. This is where people are probably getting the pass on the right thing going on. People just need to get used to single file driving on an island. On the mainland, a long string of cars is considered unsafe and the lead driver is required by law to pull over. They just need to add a couple stretches of pull over lanes and it would resolve a lot of this rage/frustration driving over Saddle.
