Thanks for the time on the swinging leg exercise! I will try that when I'm able.
When I was about 56-57, I was able to do a good amount of inclined leg presses at the gym. I joined that gym when I was just turning 50. I could work up to 6x45 pound weights on each side. There were big dudes that could certainly do more, but, for a guy that age at about 175 pounds, I thought that, 540 pounds, was pretty decent. Later, I had to cut back, due to a left ankle problem I still have, and when I tweaked my right knee kicking over a motorcycle that was out of time, and kicked me back hard. The later was about 2009.
I haven't decided if I should even go d=see a doctor about this. I thought I'd wait and see if it starts getting better on it's own. Does that sound reasonable?? My wife says she could help me get into a car if needed, with a little technique she knows.
