Might not be as bad as a whole compressor. If the compressor bearings are shot then, it's the big one because, when replacing to a new compressor, you have to change a few of the other components in the system. But if it's only the clutch you're on the down hill side in expenses.

In the mean time, pull the electrical plug off of the compressor and hope that clutch or compressor doesn't freeze up on ya because, you could lock up that clutch, get stranded, and or lose your belt too.
