Yes, stay away from LG!
We got one from Home Depot about 3 years ago and it stopped defrosting about a year later. The independent repair guy that has worked on our other fridges says the only service is from Sears. An inexpensive Amana also crapped out - from Home Depot.
We have had no problems with Kenmore and Whirlpool from Sears
