My seventh winter in Alaska (mostly in Arctic) had the longest span of negative 50 or below weather recorded. That summer was cool and wet(lousy). The next winter wasn't getting any better either, and while waiting in the car for my son to finish shooting/biathalon practice after a 3 mile ski at -25, I saw an ad for a similar position to the one I had then in the Interior on the Big Island. There's much I love about Alaska, but weather is not one of them. Get training there. Much more professional opportunity in Alaska. Come here with something to offer (that pays rent) and life can be sweet. Good luck.
