Several of the negative Yelp reviews were from people angry about Dongbu's (now doing business as DB, I think) attempt to cancel the Puna Medical office's insurance during the 2014 lava episode. Having said that, there were still quite a few negative reviews, especially in relation to their claims adjuster, John Mullen. They backed off on the medical ofice, but it wasn't a good PR move.
Getting back to Lloyd's, though, it was the 2014 lave flow that sent a lot of insurers in addition to Dongbu fleeing Lava Zones 1 and 2. Lloyd's became one of the "last resort" insurers, and I would hope that consumers would have checked their coverage carefully. If Lloyd's or their agents misrepresented the coverage, that's lawsuit worthy. If someone didn't know what they were buying through their own lack of diligence, that's something else. I find it hard to imagine, however, that somebody would buy a policy under those circumstances without asking, "Now I AM covered for volcanic eruptions and lava flows, right?"
