A different angle. Cigarette and booze taxes are maxed out, Cigs are getting less use. For any tax loss there is going to be a replacment.
We know there have been few crimes or violence commited on just pot. Crack increaed crime and violence Ice is even worse. Pot makes slow drivers. The rest scramble brains!
But since the shipping crackdown beginning with greenharvest has been in effect.
Since green harvest, growers who previously made money and spent it in town plenty of it but with the new crackdowns on shipping, the problems began. Worse even than the intrusive police raids.
Growers are afraid to ship off island. Then began the coke and crack dealers, coming here to trade goods with the growers. Even black heroin was on the exchange. These dudes weren't afraid to ship, they are true criminals.
Growers, previously big spending customers in town on autos, property, build houses etc., Hard drugs are the currency, What little cash they have they spend off island. If they make the exchange and sell the new poison they deserve the max.
Alcohol prohibition wasn't repealed because of a new thirst for freedom, It was because the country was in a recession and this gave a whole new revenue source. The war sealed it's tax status. Plus it gave reason for a domestic cia, "the FBI". they survived prohibition and still thrive. Same with drugs today. I hope pot is hit about with beer and wine. The rest like sweedish income tax,(90%).
Today you can make your own wine or beer, tax only when sold. D'ya think however the DEA is going to dissolve!
But I do think this is the best possible scenario for repeal, best chance yet. People have been talking reason to deaf ears forever. When you can order research and tell them what they must prove, not very strong, but it's worked so far. One thing they know well is tax revenue, and incomes are tapped dry. A drug tax, what an idea. (freedom through taxation).
Recession is a very good possibility!
