I own a bosch "big unit" on the mainland... works well, it was pricey however, almost 1k$ and requires a standing pilot - off grid.
Out here I tried 2 of the chinese knock offs they are 10 liter (2.5 gal) per minute units, less than $200 (3 year warranty $20) each from fleabay. I use one to feed the outside shower on the lanai, the other supplies the laundry and kitchen and bath... these units have igniters powered by 2 d cells - no wiring hookups needed
its been six months or so - no issues
