Not to be flip BY ANY MEANS....
How did you do in 1987? Did you step back, save a little, become a little less consumer orientated for awhile?
Also because those of us who have been here long enough to be Kaamaina saw a serious recession/depression here on the Big Island in the late 80's and most of the 90's... we already have the sense of hunkering down, plant a garden, garage sale shop, dont spend much. Besides Black Monday, in the late 80's - the Big Island continued a series of shut downs of cane operations.
Maybe we were lured in to the go-go years of real estate in 2003-06 but it hasnt been that long (early to mid 90's) that more people were moving off this island because of lack of jobs and incomes. Green Harvest was the final straw at that time to be honest.
Do I care about the bailout? Yes I have an opinion.
My question to any of you : How does it affect my your day TODAY?
Before crash .... "chop wood carry water",... after crash,... "chop wood carry water"."
