Sustainability and self sufficiency have meaning
#42
My subdivision in California has these long parkways planted with "instant landscape" trees. I think they are ornamental plums. I walk by them everyday thinking "I wonder if next time we shouldn't just plant REAL FRUIT TREES". It is Southern California. Why aren't food producing trees MANDATED for such areas, or at least opted for by developers and homeowners associations.

On the subject of trading, maybe there could be a "Farmer's market" where NO MONEY changes hands and people just bring items to trade.
