I was delighted to realize that Hawaiian has a flight to Manila, which makes getting there from Jakarta easier. I think that Hawaii will benifit from more people in Asia, especially the Chinese wanting to visit Hawaii, but I don't think Hawaii has much potential as a hub. Passengers hate refueling stops and Hawaii is just too far from any "spokes" (aside from interisland traffic) to make it a decent hub.
