In a head-on collision the determining factor is the combined speeds of the two vehicles.
You can't influence the speed of the other vehicle so what I would advise is to slow down as much as possible while still maintaining enough speed to switch lanes (on your side of the road) if the oncoming vehicle switches lanes.
