HPP under attack!!!!
"Just who said “lethal force”? Those aren’t my words they are yours."

Okay, how about:
"Two warning shots in the head will generaly stop a thief."

Different words, same meaning.

I thought you shot them in head, then fired the warning shot?

I gota start taking notes.

Yep, we are all of different experiences. I, for one, appreciate the fact that our crime problems currently and generally lack gun involvement. It is basically poor kids with little or poor education involved in crimes of opportunity. I'm not looking forward to them acquiring guns from under pillows and mattresses of old geezers from Texas. In my cynicism I have yet to consider them "vermin" - a term I recall from studying WW2 and the Third Reich - I still consider them people.

While some of you certainly feel justified in bringing your violent mainland attitudes with you to Hawaii I cannot help but feel that you will be contributing to the problem, not contributing to the solution. And so Hawaii will be diminished. It is unfortunate enough when one dummy is involved in a crime... just gets worse when there are two dummies.

I do speak from experience with crime. I have had my share on the mainland. Truly it is not fun being held at gunpoint by a dummy. Fewer guns would make me happier. In lieu of killing someone over "stuff" I think it more practical to be community involved and carry homeowners insurance. I do consider you gun people to be potentially as much of a problem as the petty thieves and am very glad you don't live on my street.

Pacifist isnt the same as anti-gun.

I know quite a few people who work hard doing manual labor for a living. If their family or their life was in danger, I believe they could use anything close at hand as a weapon. A 2x4, a curtain rod, a heavy cast iron skillet, framing hammer, or their bare hands, while someone is still looking for their gun .

So Rob is it now my responsibility to provide items for these slugs you feel for to steal. because they were traumatized by being told no. When you break into someones home you endanger both the home owners and yourself. It enrages me that anyone would think I should carry more homeowners insurance to cover the loss of items that I have traded hours of my life to acquire. Neighborhood watches, citizen involvement, reporting any and all thefts and Demanding prosecution are all positive steps. But when you enter someones home to commit a crime, you loose you entitlement to my sympathy. And if I lived on your block, I would still look out for your property, even though you seem willing to give mine to some scum bag who is to damn lazy to work for a living.

Wow Rob,
I try to be reasonable and do my best to try not to offend anyone. It seems you just went out of your way to be insulting. Why? I thought it was ok to disagree on topics or hold a differing opinion. You just used the classic insult of comparing to Hitler's Nazis. You insinuated that those who hold the opposing views are dummies. You essentially said that those that hold oposing views are not welcome. You said those holding opposing views are no better than criminals. Am I not welcome here any longer?

Incidentally, It's not petty thefts that bring my extreme response. It the breaking into my home. That's the line, but I'm still not trigger happy. Given the opportunity, I will ask questions first.

The whole time I've followed this thread, I don't remember a single instance where any pro home defense advocate has said to shoot first and ask questions later. To me it just seems like another anti-gun attack on law abiding gun owners who would protect their families from the criminals of the world. I'm used to the type of response I see on this thread and normally just let it run off my back. And just as an item of information, a 36" hardwood baton can get the job done just as well, so lets cut down and burn all the hardwood tree's because someone may administer a well deserved beating to some slug in in his home. Meanwhile we can all pay huge increases in homeowners insurance to cover the losses from thefts. And quite frankly, yes a thief is vermin in my book and is entitled to a lengthy prison sentence. May not deter them but they're out of circulation.

Sorry guys, You have your opinions and express them... So do I.

I am not fond of gun bluster and consider taking the law into one's own hands to be no less criminal than the thief you might be shooting at. God help the average Joe who approaches a drunken paranoid gun owner's home at night to call Triple A. I simply see more harm than good from a pile of worried folks brandishing guns and bragging on their god given (Thou Shall Not Kill?) right to use 'em as they (not the law) see fit.

Dick Wilson - read a little deeper and you will, or should, recognize the "shoot 'em dead" advocates.

I am not concerned if I upset you or piss you off... gun slinging will not go unchallenged here.

Using a firearm in legal home defense is not and never will be gun slinging. And yes, any concealed carry instructor will tell you, that if you have to fire your weapon shoot to kill. They will also tell you be to damn sure that using your weapon is your only option. No one has advocated shooting first, everyone has said the same thing, only in accordance with applicable laws to use a firearm. Those laws are on the books because their is a LEGAL right of self defense. I will not apologize for being willing to defend my family with all legal means available. These so called disadvantaged youths have the same option available to them I did, which is join the military and get an education and job skills, but that would require effort and dedication, easier to continue to steal from those who have done so.

wow, man, amazing. having a gun is a right. protecting your family is a responsibility. to each his own on how they want to protect their family or area in which their children grow up. i had a friend whose home was broken into while he and his wife were home by a drunken teen. did he kill the kid....no but he did shoot in the air and offf ran the drunk. called the troopers and now the kid is locked up. he could have killed the kid its just that the kid ran instead of advancing.
like my buddy said he felt for the safety of his wife. its how you think and react in times of danger. keeping a cool head is a must. i would never want to kill someone unless my family is in danger of dying first. i have 3 guns and sleep well, go to work unworried knowing my wife is safe at night with protection. i have a german shepard too. its just that i work nights and am not around when she sleeps. i also work in a youth facility and see the bad boys daily. they think different than normal people do and trust me having a weapon is peace of mind. im glad most people in Alaska have guns, its a safer place here because of it. and by the way my dad is a Texan and would give the shirt off his back to anyone....easy on the old Texas cut downs....yes he has a gun.

peace
