Hurricane season 2016
I'm wondering if the eye isn't passing over the L.E. area. It went almost dead calm.
The rain stopped.
Then fog began to form.
After a while the rains started up again, the winds are beginning in fits and spurts again and the fog is dissipating.

What I can't swear to is a 180* change in wind direction that should have come with the resumption of the winds.

The limbs and branches are really cracking now. The tops of the ohia trees are loaded down with water and they are really swaying. Lot of debris flying, branches hitting the side of the house.

TS Darby looked like it was breaking apart in two yesterday, it turned north, then it turned south today. As of a few hours ago, it went south and looks like it is getting stronger, now heading northwest into south Puna. The eye is still a few hours out.

The winds have resumed. They're gusting stronger than before the calm period and appear to be coming out of the East. That would put the eye South of us.

Yeah, the wind just hit HS too. About 30 MPH (just guessing).

Some strong gusts in mid HPP now. The dogs are worried. They remember last time when the big Mango fell on the house.

Just heard an Albezia fall towards Makuu. Wi fi, phone and electricity out.

Just heard a small explosion, such as a transformer blowing, and then lost power in Papaikou.

We seem to have just had a minor squall line go through central HPP. Two periods of gusty wind with only a bit more rain than the background level, then three minutes of sunshine followed by the heaviest gust yet. Crazy.

Yeah crazy swirling winds coming from the south west at times. The trees aren't used to that direction and can get uprooted easier when the wind blows that way

One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

Albezia down on Makuu and 15th. Live wires Keaau side, tree blocking Pahoa side of 15th.
