If there is air leaking thru any part of the suction side - the pump will be noisy as well

Generally, anything that can do 120/240 will be 15% more efficient at 240 than at 120.

Note that most power consumption is during the cold start; you will get more of these with a slow leak and/or bad pressure switch.

When customers ask if we supply pumps with our water tanks I always tell them to go to Sears and pick one up off the shelf. You can get a very good quality 3/4 hp Simer pump for about $300. Hard to beat.

I'm Nani1970's husband.
Thursday afternoon funny sound. Phoned "Michaels Repair". Michael came out friday early afternoon. Assessed it as in the pump. Took it apart and sure enough, a broken plastic piece. Replaced the part and added a shut off valve that we also knew we needed, and presented us with a very reasonable bill. All good one day service. Thanks for all the advice here.

Michael helped me out a lot while trying to get my Bosch tankless water heater working. It was new out of the box but the electronic control box was broken. Anyway he knew what he was talking about and even had the new part.

By the way, Bosch did not earn my repeat business, sadly. One way or another they arranged to not provide me with what I needed to actually use their new equipment. Auwe!

I will never buy a pump from Sears again. I bought a pump from them about a year ago, off the shelf and it leaked. I returned it and got another off the shelf same thing, if leaked as well. So I returned that one too , went to home depot and picked one up and it worked fine.

I've only bought 3 things from Sears in the last 20 years. Upon getting them home I discovered all 3 of them were used/store returns. But yet they "let" me pay full/new price for them. For this reason I have not purchased anything from Sears since, the only exception being a specialty-order new appliance.

But let's not just beat Sears up. Let me tell you about my experience at Walmart. I bought a router there and although I am extremely computer savvy, I could not get it to work. So I called India and asked for help. Long story short, they determined that the router had a failed firmware update, which can only happen after purchase. In other words, somebody had purchased the router, attempted a firmware update which failed, and so they took it back to Walmart. India informed me that the unit was bricked and had to be returned as there was no way to fix it without replacing the firmware chip itself. So I took it back to Walmart. I explained the entire problem to the returns "specialist" and I specifically told her that this was the 2nd time this unit had been returned, that it was broken, had to go back to the factory, and not to put it back on the shelf. She assured me that Walmart had the best interest of its customers in mind. A few days later I was back at Walmart and thought... let me just check and see. So I went over to the electronics section and there it was. I am positive it was the same unit because I could see the distinctive tearing I did to the packaging when I ripped it open, now all taped closed. The saddest part was not only that they were trying to sell a product that will never work, that had already been returned twice.... the price was actually higher than when I originally bought it. Unreal!
