Real Time Storm Prep ... Whatcha doin ?
#11
Well, other than my prep nothing. I'm waiting to see if we have high winds. If we do I'll cut down all the tarp type things, bring the parrots inside, etc.

Getting ready to do the Red Cross shelter thing as a volunteer. It will be my first call out since I took the training. All my potted plants are now on the ground, as safe as I can make them.

Thanks Carey! Looks like I can pull off a Puna version of that one with the flying fruit on hand!

Crazy day. Mainland guests left this morning. Just getting around to the storm. I don't have much patio furniture, but what I have I brought into the garage. I brought the table and chairs on the lanai into the house. I brought those poor, neglected potted plants on the lanai into the house and put them on the table. They are still whimpering.

I did leave outside a machete that was leaning against the house. I want to see if Flossie knows how to use one. This will also serve as a deterrent to marauding bandits. When they approach my hale, it will be like Final Destination 13 --- Flossie will lift that machete and chop off their heads, all in a row.

The stars and planets were very bright and Venus and Mars are alright tonight. You wouldn't know that thing wants to come cruising up Hilo Bay and that it is taller than Mauna Kea.

So I've battened down the hatches.

But not the hatchets.

Buckets under the leaky holes in the roof, putting raincoats on the grand kiddies, doggies, kitties, make sure the generator will switch on, keeping an eye on the news....what's next?

1. Secured my tent garage.
2. Saw that my portable gas cooker has plenty of cylinders.
3. Laid in 50+ gallons of drinking water.
4. Made sure I have three weeks worth of clean underwear.

I don't have any potted plants worth mentioning, and I ALWAYS keep a month's supply of non-perishible food on hand. Having done all that, Flossie seems to be falling apart.
