Toyota prius, I walk a lot and ride my bike whenever possible - helps to have your bike on a bike rack (with lock) - makes it a lot easier to bike if its always there.
But I really wish we had a light-rail.

currently drive a tacoma -best yet
have owned rangers and explorers- worked well off road as well - watch the transmissions on these - best if the previous owner swapped it out
worked on the early straight six cherokees - bullet proof
have had poor luck with several suburbans - front ends
british cars good out here if one likes to walk (rain and lucas electronics) -
Is there a place that sells ATV's ? I would think they would be a ton of fun in Puna....

ATV's are illegal on roads and public lands here. Doesn't mean they don't exist, they just aren't legal

County insists that my roads are "privately owned". I will ride/drive as I see fit.
Thats really crappy. Seems like ATVs would be a perfect fit on those dirt roads

Yes county insists they are private road, but they can now tell us what we can drive, how to drive, and they have the authority to ticket us , etc.
