Might I make a suggestion? If Punatalk isn't your cup of tea, ("*Sighs heavily* *Shakes head w disappointment*") you could try Farming and Gardening in Puna if you're in rural Puna, or Building in Puna if you plan to buy or build. Those two forums are less controversial, a place where you can dip your feet in the shallow end of the pool, before diving in with the jellyfish and sharks.

Aloha!

NRIN for what it is worth, there are plenty of intelligent, civil and easy going people who have posted many, many gems of insight and clarity worth more than gold. I have learned far more on this sight than most any book about building and value the wisdom that no amount of dollars I could get my hands on would ever afford. Not sure what happened but some 7 or 8 years ago some, shall we say, verbose and different individuals began, I don't know, trying to make a name for themselves or something. In any case, don't throw out the baby with the bathwater because the experience and insight on this one forum will save you countless wasted hours of research and discovery on your own. If experience is any indication most of the blowhards with an agenda burn out and very thankfully fade away. Happiness begins with an H.[Big Grin]

Hello there new person with the strange name. As Pam just said, don't take anything too seriously. There are a lot of people with different agendas and some times it's best to just ignore them and listen to those that are willing to discuss things in a civil manner. Really, if you ask questions you have little chance of starting a flame war. When I first came to Punaweb I had a lot of questions and was treated very well, I expect you'll receive the same treatment.
Me ka ha`aha`a,
Mike

I'm not discouraged, nor throwing baby out, nor quitting...
Just gave the trolls the only meager sustenance I'm willing to give...
And.... waiting for those intelligent, civil, easy-going folk to reply. I momentarilly forgot that such folk have jobs and lives, and don't have time to troll forums all day.
I wouldn't think Hawaii would have sooo many bridges for them to hide under... especially bridges w a strong wifi signal...

It's not mandatory; but considered polite, for new members of this forum to compose a Haiku poem that honors me. Thank you very much.*

Found an old post from which I will devise my lines...

He wears his wife's underwear
is Snorkle snarky?
Like me, he would eat Coqui

*pls ignore the line below this... this forum system is very unfriendly to 'on-the-fly editing from a smart phone... won't let me get back down there. It was supposed to read "I like doing Haiku!"*
