Traffic cameras

...at least they are giving the public access, makes it a little bit better.

I suspect that these cameras are also being used for ANPR, but ICXTG has very carefully avoided any mention of this possibility.

I wonder when we'll see some of these on Road 8?

I wonder how long before these get 'liberated'? From the resell potential people to the anti big brother people, I have a hunch that these cameras might disappear. Especially the ones across from the old KFC - they are mounted pretty low...

Maybe the cops can steal it from themselves.

Hmmm, Hopefully the MethHeads and Lowlifes don't muck with em...

I was messing around with the maps, can be changed from the default MapQuest (maybe it loads faster?)... By clicking on the (+) on the right that will give you a map box. Google seems the best, if you zoom in or out you'll see two green lines or yellow and green line. Looks like the traffic cam is monitoring traffic in both directions. Kinda cool! Right now it states that inbound traffic is moderate at the merge.

Will be interesting to see what it looks like 7AM Monday morning or 4PM.

Works fine on my cellphone S4 and even my wife's free windows phone. Albeit, we are getting 4G LTE in beaches. Seems the new cell tower is is pumping out some high speed data. I'm getting better speeds than RoadRunner.

Would be nice if they made an option to email you at 5 minutes before getting off from work what the conditions were. Maybe there is an App for that? Big Grin

About Punatraffic.com
Punatraffic.com was created through a partnership between Hawai‘i’s Department of Public Works and the Hawai‘i Civil Defense. Punatraffic.com offers information on transportation conditions and the region’s roadways as they are affected by the K#299;lauea lava flows.

These were installed so Billy could enjoy front row seats of the lava spilling out over 130 while in his bedroom on his Ipad. Sigh...

Here I thought these were put up for "us" so we could see traffic jams. I was really wondering after looking at all the cams. Why have volcano cams mixed in with traffic cams??? Sheesh, I dunno, this sounds kinda sad now.

I am happy to see the vid cameras around , im not worried that big brother is watching me , and I feel like it will make our society a bit safer and more relaxed , im ok with the facial recognition tech. we as a country and our island have to many missing children and to many thugs , this will certainly be a help to the police and fire dept. and the big plus , is since I have no life I can sit and watch the cars go bye in the morning as I have coffee ! hahahhaha

Like NASCAR, many people just watch these to see the crashes.
