Hijacked thread about global warming theories

1 pound of tissue LA to Hilo by air: 1.735 lbs CO2
1 pound of tissue LA to Hilo by boat: 0.0545 lbs CO2

Even better:
1 pound of organic fiber from your backyard to the bathroom : 0 lbs CO2

There are many paper substitutes you can grow at home; papyrus, industrial hemp, even bamboo. Cut, soak, pound with a hammer, and dry, and you'll have a sustainable, renewable source of bathroom tissue, even during Matson strikes.

Think of the keiki. Because you won't be able to help but think of the keiki whenever they're howling in the bathroom over your roughly thought out, scratchy plans for their future.

"Air cargo – 1.527 kg CO2 per Ton-Mile.....

....Sea freight - 0.048 kg CO2 per Ton-Mile
"

Very substantial difference between the two. More than I realized.

If you don't care a rats rectum about your grand-children's quality of life in the future, why should I???

I am "over it"

Air cargo every day of the week! My grand-children's quality of life has absolutely nothing to do with any of this nonsense. Attempts by the PC left to turn CO2, a basic building block of life, into a poison gas and pollutant is just idiotic and deceptive.

I'm not aware of anyone calling CO2 a poison gas. It is, however, most certainly a greenhouse gas. Makes things hot, not dead. Take a look at the planet Venus, for instance, using our new Thirty Meter Telesc... wait, never mind.

There are a number of reasons why you might want to buy the $20.00 retro-fit bidet from Amazon.

I wasn't really trying to start a flame war, nor was I advocating wiping butts with hemp fibers - home made or industrially produced.

My point was that, when we have options, give a moment's thought to the broader, long-term consequences of those choices. Just because a resource is temporarily cheap, doesn't mean that we should squander it - and especially so if there are long-term impacts from doing so.

Climate change is happening, and has always happened - we're in a benign climatic period right now, our current population is unsustainable if those conditions change by what may, to the non-specialist, seem like a trivial amount. Your grandchildren may be dealing with some very difficult times.

Given a choice between 320 ( 4 x 80 ) rolls of toilet paper and a tourist, I think I choose toilet paper.
