Bad delays on H-11 this evening

I teach a class Fridays 2:30-3:30 at E.B. DeSilva Elelmentary in Hilo. I probably drove by that traffic problam about 3:45-3:50 or so, and it wasn't too bad yet.

I left work a little earlier than normal (around 4:30pm) and the backup at that point was enormous. Given both lanes weren't available until roughly 8pm, I hate to think how bad it got later. Since this must have affected thousands of people, you'd think there would be something in the media about it, but I haven't found anything, although haven't looked recently. From what I saw (no wreck) I suspect it wasn't a regular traffic accident.

As for signs, how about a more permanent one just before the merge on H-11?
