Kenoi On County Support For Astronomy, TMT On Maun
#11
Somewhat comical how those with little to no opinion at least relavent to the topic, seem to resort to criticizing others who share theirs. I think it almost comes natural or instinctual for some as I frequently catch myself doing it as well. The past couple of posts or comments by certain members did not contribute to the thread or topic, at least positively, jmo.

Tomk, I am sorry that you were rubbed the wrong way by one or many of my gibberish opinions. I like to think a forum is a great place to openly discuss or converse different views, questions, ideas, or opinions. This forum has already helped me in so many ways, I can only be thankful Rob created it. Personally I have learned more on this site than all my years attending the many hawaii public schools, i know pretty sad jmo.

P.S. Pog you are correct about my poor edumacation or profession in life. Tonight though I am a very proud father, as I have just learned that my oldest son has been accepted to some mighty fine private and or public Universities. Hopeful the stupid ends here with me sir. Aloha and mahalo.

Pog,

I post here because I live in Puna and have done so for a couple of decades and enjoy the banter and the help I receive here. The astronomy stuff is secondary, but since it's my field of expertise I do tend to post my opinions about astronomy in Hawaii. I hope some appreciate my perspective as I'm not aware of another astronomer posting here, and like to share our discoveries with everyone.

I'm not aware of another place you can post or share my opinions. There will be another contested case in the courts and that might mean testifying, and suspect that's the best way to support the TMT. Online stuff just doesn't work. I'll post any info I get about that opportunity.

I'll think about this a little more.

Thanks, as always, for posting here Tom. Your informed opinions and insights are a breath of fresh air.
Something to counter the uneducated gibberish.

Supporting the world's best telescope in the world's best location for astronomy, all the while with the local people, education and economy benefiting. Sounds like common sense to me. It's win-win. Except for the anti-science people, of course, but that's yet another benefit.

I suspect the TMT is screwed because of the incompetence of the state

I'm often told that I accepted these problems by moving here; perhaps the same is true of TMT.

Just imagine how the Hawaiians feel, they've had to deal with the state since its inception

The state to the Hawaiian people is like an ant at a picnic. A picnic with a DHHL hornets nest buzzing above the lau lau, and OHA wasps droning around the hapia dessert.

By the way our mayor did show face a couple times atop maunakea, mostly just caused more problem's.

Wow, lanikila may have had to run to the top of maunakea barefoot due to Billy Kenoi's snake in the grass ways, jmo. Also mayor Kenoi has been strongly supportive of the TMT project since he took the mayors office, jmo.
