Blatant abuse of power - Trip Advisor
#11
HI_Someday - sorry to hear about your experience, but don't let it get you down. You've now witnessed what a lot of us here have seen and experienced from TA about the Big Island. In addition, my own experience is that TA has become almost unusable due to all the pop-up windows and additional crap you have to put up with on that site.

I travel a lot and years ago TA was great, but that is no longer the case. As Paul has pointed out, this has been discussed before, and in the thread he mentions, I pointed out some blatant lies from the more "senior" TA posters. Unfortunately, those lies continue today.

I currently favor Yelp for simple reviews and links. It's cleaner, simpler, and far more accurate in my opinion.

I contacted TA about the many lies and inaccuracies posted by these two Experts and they told me that there are no Facts on TA, only Opinions.

Yeah, censorship - no big deal.

No violation of rights happens where the government is not the censor.

they told me that there are no Facts on TA, only Opinions.

Anyone who doesn't like the opinions published on a website is free to start their own.

TripAdvisor doesn't care what you think, but they might listen to your lawyers.

Give all the money to lawyers, that'll fix everything.

-or-

Make threads and posts about TA and why you are unhappy with them (like this thread).

Don't buy their products and services (don't visit their site).

Find one or more of their competitors, use their products, services and visit their website.

Come back here and start a new thread about how great that other company is and how reliable they and their reviews are.

Start a vacation website which is geared positively towards Puna vacation experiences and doesn't sell other islands or other districts.

Last thing on my mind would be letting a lawyer get any money from your experience on TA even if it could be done.

Or as HI_Someday found out, there are some opinions on TA, but not others.

Naniloa has a brand to protect and they likely have lawyers already on the payroll.

My vacation rental will do just fine without TripAdvisor.

Make a few more posts (four is probably enough) and you'll be accepted.
