Animal importation question
#11
Thanks everyone. The lady who responded back from the main web site strongly suggested we go through Honolulu then to Hilo. I thought it over and decided to go that route. We have everything else done, we're just waiting out the 120 days still. We have minature weiner dogs. They are loved pets but we breed and sell pups, too. Hope we can sell pups there since it's costing a fortune to get all 6 of them there!! Linda Bowman

Aloha Linda...

What happens if you can't sell pups here?

People here are broke ass right now...

I wouldn't suggest selling dogs to support yourself here now...

Otherwise one of your loose puppies might come across me and I may just do something unwanted to your dog if the dog jumps on my son unexpectantly... people control your effing dogs!

Ya know Damon, not every dog owner is irresponsible, Most control their dogs and do not let them run loose. I understand that you have a problem with loose dogs and are fed up with it. But poisoning the dogs with snail bait as you suggested in another post is not only despicable, but you might run across a dog owner who would react violently to having their dog which got loose by accident poisoned.

Please dick... show me where I suggested this?

Please re-read the thread and quote me somewhere saying that I would poison the dogs with snail bait. [Wink][}Smile]

Damon; my apologies, I meant to say" as was suggested" as the snail bait suggestion came from someone else. I firmly beleive dog owners have resposibility to control their animals, But I also feel that a lack of control is not the animals fault and that to use the method suggested in the post about controlling your dogs is a totally inhumane method and should never have been suggest by anyone. Deal with the idiot owner not the poor dog left to fend for itself. Enough ranting, again my apologies for using your name in connection with that post.

Aloha... I've been doing the research. I've even called Hawaii directly for the information. Everything is set for direct release for me and my 2 lahsa's. The biggest problem I'm having is the airlines and their procedures. So far, only one dog per passenger. I'm the only one coming. The other problem is that if the temps in the departure city is 85+ no go, if the dogs are in with the baggage. I'd like to put them under the seat with me. I'll have to find a passenger to fly over with to take one of the dogs. I'm coming from Detroit(DTW)and would like to fly directly into Kona. IF ANYONE, knows which airlines are the best for this please email me. Anytime after July 22, is when I'm planning on leaving Michigan.

PLEASE check with your airline about pets allowed in the CABIN! They are only allowed on mainland flights NOT on ANY airline flying to ANY Hawaiian airport. If you discover ANY airline that will allow a pet in the cabin to Hawaii (not the $2,000 a seat charters - and I am not talking service dogs) - PLEASE post so other pet owners will know!

Have you tried Northwest Airlines? My brother in law is moving over around the 1st of August with two dogs also. He is coming from Seattle on NORTHWEST to Honolulu (Two dogs are pemitted). From there he is putting his dogs (Golden Retrievers) on Aloha Air Cargo and he is going on Hawaiian to Hilo. He is also using an animal handler in Honolulu for $175.00 that will help him pick up the dogs at the AG dept and transport them to where they need to go for their interisland flight. On your 'Dog and Cat Import Form' you'll put in the handler's name so that they can be picked up. Apparently, these handlers are well known by the AG Department and recommend them. Contact Jackie and Winston Kapau (808) 488-3854 (one dog is $100.00 if anyone else is interested). Hope this helps! [Smile]
