Well, beauty is definetely in the eye of the beholder, and there is a certain whimsy to the place. To each his own. It's just so......jarring. Here is the normal thought process when you see that place: Oh, look.....ha...ha...ha....a castle in Hawaii on an old lava flow....it's not a pretty castle....god that place looks like it would get hot....it's all closed up looking....jeez that's not very Hawaiian looking...ewwwww-- just ran over a mongoose.
THAT BEING SAID, I have decided that Daniel Bona is a genius, when you look at the overall quality of his work. Innovative materials, a wide-range of styles, obviously able to accomodate the wishes of any client. We are lucky to have a genius such as Daniel Bona among us.
Carey: On the outside of the building are these inscriptions: "Kehena" and "O.I.N", which is latin for ordonus inctus nictu which, in English means "The Knights Who Say 'Neep'".
