As an openly gay person on this forum, I have to say that seeing the sort of invective glennoid pointed out here earlier does not really offend me. I find it instructive from time to time to see just what sorts of hateful, backward people are out there lurking in the world and what they will say when they cannot be held accountable for it. Gay bashing, both verbal and physical, is unfortunately still around.
There are apparently some people who see a disturbance of the status quo on beach drinking as evidence of a conspiracy to take away something they see as a key element of their "local" scene. How they jump from there to blaming it all on gays is beyond me. Oh well, I guess everybody needs somebody to look down on, and that's the best they could do.
Having said all that, I still find that my life on the Big Island has not been adversely affected by homophobia. My neighborhood community is wonderfully accepting and generous. Still, a wise person pays attention to what may be out there on the other side of the philosophical coin.
Aloha,
Jerry

what do we expect when our fearless leader, the warmonger himself, and of course his right wing followers roll out the gay bashing rhetoric before every election?

Sounds like some fear based Bush-bashing. Where's the aloha?

Just to be clear, I love you all, gay, straight, unlabel-able, ambiguous, green, orange, and grape. =)
Aloha,

Aloha Punatics!
Gee, sometimes in my database "Gay" is still associated with "blithe" and "cheery". How can anyone dislike that? Then, there was always the trolley driver who always used to tell me "always forward, never straight". She was a cheery person, too, for that matter. I don't see how it is my business about who sleeps with whom as long as they all get enough sleep to drive carefully!
Off in oblivion again! (and I like it!)

Aloha haoleboy, starting member, first post, have you had the chance or taken the time to go to the Introduce yourself thread? It is 13 months old and you will find lots of fun stuff on there!
Where is your introduction? Sorry if I missed it. Bombs and bullets do not equate to Aloha in your estimation do they?
Mahalo from leaving the lurking stage and joining us here.
Please refer to the definition of Punatic, as this is the Punatic Forum.

Pardon my faux paux. If I put down my bombs and bullets long enough to hammer out an introduction, can we get a little aloha?

ROFLOL!!! ALOOOHA! Good to know you, haoleboy! Welcome to Punatic land LOL!
This really is a great place to learn about East Hawaii. So much info, you'll never get bored...check out the search engine for anything you have questions about and just do a keyword entry. Do you live on-island?

I have read a Punatic defintion somewhere on this forum, but I cannot find it now. It doesn't seem to be anywhere up front where a newcomer would see it.

Well, there's "Puna" and "Lunatic" - mix the two together and you get "Punatic". Everyone here is a bit loony, does that need an explanation?
