moving to Hawaii in August

We shipped our car with Matson out of Seattle. The car was fine when it finally arrived - about six weeks after leaving Seattle! Turns out while waiting to be barged from Honolulu to Hilo it somehow got shipped back to the mainland - at least once. They didn't know where it was for a while. After 6 weeks of BS we demanded they pay for a rental car, and they did. I wish we'd thought of that sooner. My son had to hitchhike from Nanawale to Hilo several times a week to see if it had arrived.

I was watching the longshormen unload cars at Kawaihae awhile back and noticed a cherry 55 chevy on the barge deck. What a fine ride, I thought. When it came time for the classic to come down the Matson employee spun the tires and fishtailed all the way down the ramp and across the yard. All this test driving for no additional charge!

We shipped a truck and a car with Matson from LA. Staggered so we would have something to drive on both ends. We took a taxi from the airport and picked up the truck. Two weeks later we picked up the car. It was a breeze.
