Caused deaths in Hawaii, Hilo, maybe elsewhere.
Japan earthquake, 2011.
No deaths in Hawaii, luckily. "Just" property damage.
Perhaps your US 2nd District Representative could enlighten you further.

Let's see, photos showing the effects of a tsunami on an island in the Pacific that is earthquake-prone...
No, can't see the connection. Wait, didn't we have one of those tsunamis just last week?

One thing I've learned from watching the video footage is that if I ever find myself with a tsunami bearing down on me with no high ground or high buildings within reach, then I'm going to get ino the nearest vehicle. Sure, they got pushed around but they seemed to stay relatively intact and it was certainly preferable to the alternative.
