Abundant Life is cheaper than Island Naturals for most things. For some of the things that overlap (vanilla, herbal tea) they're even cheaper than the supermarkets.

Down To Earth is a chain. I believe they are mostly in Hawaii.

Friends on Maui say they aren't doing that well in Kahalui.

Prices being the main issue(s).

They have only a few stores, all in Hawaii. It's run by a rabidly homophobic Hare Krishna offshoot cult based on Oahu, Science of Identity (the one Mike Gabbard is/was associated with; they also have members in Puna).
