Down To Earth Store Closing

I'm guessing high price points and catering to a minority is what did them in.

Abundant Life is cheaper than Island Naturals for most things. For some of the things that overlap (vanilla, herbal tea) they're even cheaper than the supermarkets.

Down To Earth is a chain. I believe they are mostly in Hawaii.

Friends on Maui say they aren't doing that well in Kahalui.

Prices being the main issue(s).

ZERO suprise.

Need to dig up my post on how long I said they would ( not ) last ....

Macuu222 ... NOT trying to raise dust, but why do you think they would even take the rent on then ?

@pog...BEATS ME. All I know is I will miss them. They payed 1.50 lb for Tahitian limes when everyone else in town was 1.00 or less!

They have only a few stores, all in Hawaii. It's run by a rabidly homophobic Hare Krishna offshoot cult based on Oahu, Science of Identity (the one Mike Gabbard is/was associated with; they also have members in Puna). Not all of the employees are members but they had a discrimination lawsuit a few years ago from non-member employees.

Maybe we'll get a Petco now. That'd be a good place for it.

Little Bill, what is shipping at Azure Standards? Is it free for purchases over $50?
