Change the laws about vicious dogs! The town I came from had a stricter dog leash law and if violated, big, big fines tothe owners. Oh, by the way, the law was ENFORCED,also.

dog licenses are only $6 and most people don't register their dogs anyway. Microchip is $20 unless you take more than one dog at a time then it is $10 per dog. my friend's dog killed a cat and the cat's owner took the dog to the humane society and my friend had to pay a $55 fine and one "strike" was put against the dog. (not sure what the strike means or how many they get before something more happens). Dogs should be restrained or fenced at all times. A while back a man walking in Hawaiian Beaches was attacked by two pit bulls that got out of their yard. luckily the man was able to run into a drive way and get into someones truck. no own was home and by the time the owner of the truck came home the man was almost dead. he was hospitalized and now is OK but doesn't go for walks anymore. not sure what happened to the dogs. Sad

ever notice the breeds about - mostly "hard dogs" working and guard animals - not to many fluffy puppies causing the aggression issues.
with dominance training in vogue and chaining - no wonder they go ape sh*t...... http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/31/opinio...wanted=all

We had neighbors for a while who were breeding herds of nasty little yappy chihuahua crosses, some of which were fluffy pom crosses, that were extremely aggressive as a pack; they chased the Fed Ex guy back to his truck and the guy who came to disconnect the cable was trapped on the pole until they came home one day. They were too small to do much damage singly, but as a pack of 10+ were aggressive enough that I couldn't even get out of my car to go in my own gate at times.

Does anyone carry those small dispensers of mace? Spray a dog once in the eyes and he won't bother you again. May sound cruel but there is no permanent damage.
I love dogs but the problem I have is the ones around me are extremely friendly. Every time I go out for a walk after a shower and clean clothes, one of my canine buddies comes running up to say hi after swimming in a rain pond of mud or rolling in pig ****. They love to jump up and say hello with their tongue. The "angrier" dogs all seem to be behind fences. I guess this is one of the advantages of a close community.

I'm not sure about other subdivisions, but the banner at the longhouse in Nanawale, says there is a $50 fine for dogs running loose.
However judging by the number of dogs that haved chased my truck or that I seem roaming around, I don't think it's enforced. My wife walks down Flower Rd and back and says that's not too bad , but she still walks with a stick just in case. One, of the only couple of complaints I have about Nanawale. It does seem to be a little better of late. riverwolf

Its all about responsibility - social conscience and the real deal when it comes to training or conditioning the animal
http://dogscience.org/workshop/haptrhead.shtml renting the dvd wont cut it - grin dominance training debunked: http://abrionline.org/article.php?id=225

quote: Problem is it's much easier to change a dogs psychology than a human's... Since if you could tell a "NORMAL" "RESPONSIBLE" human how to properly keep/raise an animal than none of this BS would be happening. But if one could figure this out there wouldn't be any trash on the street or corruption/greed on this planet ... but no one has figured it out yet.

could some one the define "dog psychology" major and share some of the institutions offering certifications.
It is a really murky deal - online searches for qualifications of no help..... other than lots of claims http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/art...ement.html even this guy does not have formal training - secret out takes indeed - grin |
