I asked at the Building Department yesterday if there was going to be any attempt made to inform the public of the changes with the newly adopted, modified IBC. I was told, "It's online." I said I looked online but didn't see the entire code there only the amendments to the code which reference the IBC. The response? "It's online." Okay, thanks for all the help.

Why are you not surprised? the new code is unjust for all. If you would read the majority of the comments on your plog relating to the code (in all forums) you just might see the reason for going for an injuction. The majority are totally against the code. Now you are seeing comments of total confusion and improper (no) cross referencing with the IBC. The new Code might fit your life style but not the life styles of the majority of Punatics.

I don't think the new code is unjust for all. If anything, the opposite as it makes a level playing field for all community members. And I don't think a majority of people are against the code.

Then get the majority to speak up and make them the majority. Right now the majority of those speaking up were against the code. Also the majority of people you just talk to are against the code. The Council closed their eyes to the majority who did speak, and by the way, The Public Comments all made good sence.

It also says that you may purchase a copy of this new building code at the County Clerk's Office for $5. Sounds like another money maker to me.

Look at another posted topic, "links to new building code amendments". I have posted links to the new building code information. On the county site, they have the new amendments to chapter 5 and a link to the entire 2006 IBC. It is not easy to wade through but I think it is all there.

quote:The Dept. of Public Works was to have done a detailed cross reference between the IBC and new County code. This is one of the items in our complaint to the OIP and suit. They didn't do it because it literally can't be done since they did not follow the IBC format as required. Good luck in trying it yourself.

quote: On the Hawaii .gov site it says "repealed" How can you have a new ammendment to a repealed code? Site says: On March 28, 2012, the new building code repealing chapter 5 (PDF) in the Hawai‘i County Code, is in effect. Printed copies are available at the Hawai‘i County Clerk’s office for $5.00. |
