Meeting and Petition for Pesky Helicopters
[quote]
I got a call to check out this thread,so,here I am.
First,The CAOA has not revealed its stategies, only activities and mission. My name is David, and I am on the Board of the CAOA.I agree with Thunderfoot,Mella and Nightowl.Bob has been repeating himself about contacting the State and County officials.Thunderfoot has repeatedly responded to Bob,thanked him,and has asked that he not get stuck on that point.Yes ideas are good, but let us not keep suggesting the same one over and over, especially when it has been already been noted. Also, the CAOA has had a strategy to contact any and all officials fom the start, but By-Laws needed to be written, and other important tasks in order to move forward to do that.In fact we had begun that process, but hadn't felt a need to spell it out so detailed;until now of course. The CAOA has a mission to help get relief from the over flight issue, let us not cloud that with matters of personality or agreements in strategy.
I am 81 years old, live in Hawaiian Paradise Park, and am so fired up about this issue, that I am literally spending my last moments on this Earth(my death bed!) to try and make it better.I am a veteran and am in and out of the hospital all the time now,the added stress of helicopters makes me feel like I am back in the war.I am on my fourth pacemaker and am here spending what could even be my last breath to tell you the helicopters are abusive! We need to change the rules for non-compliant pilots, that is my thoughts on strategy. The petition on CAOA's website is a way to help.Yes,it is encompassing, but we only want to do it once, instead of a bunch of times for different things. If you agree with our mission, and not the petition, then just send us a letter,or fill out the form at our website to construct your views. Also,it is noteworthy that 156 people did sign the petition in one day! That speaks loudly as to what the locals are feeling. We now have over 400 signatures ,in a matter of about three weeks, that is meaningful.

We will be out at Makuu Market on Sunday,Nov.11.Come out and talk to us there.I am sorry I will not be able to attend,I am going back into the hospital, again.Hope to be able to talk here again soon.

Everyone: Like mama used to say, "you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar".

That's why I'm so sweet.

Nightowl, just want to apologize for getting your name wrong, wjbillock. It was an honest mistake. But I still think you are one of those people that likes to stir up trouble, a bit beyond just regular humor or expression of your view.,

Also,I want to clear up something,I AM NOT speaking for the CAOA.I own a lot down in Eden Roc,I have LUPUS(hence the name Nightowl) and CANCER,and some people are picking on the petition, that is only one thing they are doing. There is also,a form at the website to leave your comments. In fact I am going there now to leave one.

I am just really really upset by those helicopters.Perhaps if,you were in pain and sick all the time, you might feel differently about how you view the way the petition is worded.AGAIN,I AM NOT speaking for the CAOA.I support them.I am going to ask if I can volunteer.

P.S. Hope you get well soon David.

Thank you dakine and KathyH!

I hope that this point will get across. If not, I am afraid that I (and we) will have to continue to live with these annoying helicopters forever.

If I am not mistaken, it seems as though Thunderfoot is attempting to say that he/she (sorrry new to forum) needs help. If TFoot is having to deal with Cancer and pain-and is being told over and over that he/she needs to rewrite the document, I can only imagine the overwhelming feeling of panic and exhaustion that Thunderfoot must be feeling. If there is someone here who can write it better-do so. Send it off to Thunderfoot for inspection and save the stress of having to do so him/herself. I am quite certain that working on someone's health is a full time job and that if you are not ill, and have experience in wrtiting and editing-and a passion for the cause-why aren't you rewriting this piece and sending it in for approval so that those who are ill can concentrate on getting better?
If I could do so (and had a clue as to the key issues) I would. Someone-please help out. It is very stressful to not only have to deal with the noise pollution (and other pollution) of these planes/helicopters but to also have to deal with serious health issues at the same time-well, it is just too much. Help our neighbors, and help ourselves.
Aloha and mahalo to all. I pray for your health and wish you much love and success.

Julie,I am the one with Cancer, easy mistake in all the flurry. There seems to be a theme of people who have medical issues that are really active about the helicopters.Sorry to hear about David, that collapsed lung does not sound well.Sorry to hear Thunderfoot is sick too.I am holding right now, just at the end of a Lupus flare. And Yeah,Julie those guys need help.I just went to their website the other day,and left a message to volunteer. Those guys need help.Maybe a free attorney will jump up,or someone will donate their writing skills. They won't be able to do it without us,the community.Yes,they are asking for our help.

There is a lot going on in here, too much to address right now.Bob,glad to see ya back. Please do not take what David said to haoleboy and let it bother you so much.He is 81 years old and in the hospital, probably not to live.So,relax.And no we do not have an official attorney, but have consulted one on the petition, which was found to be okay.Perhaps we need to have someone else look at it.For an interesting fact, none of the 450 locals over here that has signed paper petition, excluding the internet petition, has mentioned the wording of the petition needed changing.I do see what you guys mean about rewording it to taste better to politicians.Isn't that their job? Anyone that wants to do so please do.We are not closed about ideas. We can only research and do so much,in so much time. And yes,we need help,of course.I think communication breakdowns have occured in this thread, due to different cultural perspectives;whether that is Western,Hawaiian,Native American, Asian etc...These wonderful differences are reflected in how communication occurs. For example,I think when I don't respond to specific ideas, people think I didn't hear them.I do,it is just am different from them.Plus the computer is limiting in how we communicate. For example,we do not have the three demensional componenets in regular human contact, like facial expression and body language to better determine what the other is saying. So,what I am saying,is that all ideas here are being worked on,we do need help, let's get past our differences.I am ready to move on and get to work, feeling better obviously.Still alittle down, but definitely better.Nausea and headaches and sore throat are no fun.I want to Thank everyone, sincerely,I know I can be growly[Thunderfoot is my real name, and I guess is says it all].And I know David can be impulsive .....

but can you still help anyway?
