People watching @ Island Naturals
#21
Go to Youtube and enter Kahena Beach. Kind of representative of the Island Naturals crowd. It's really about cosplay (costume play). It is a carry over from the Dead Head crowd. Be establishment looking most of the time, switch over to cosplay when traveling. It's about people having fun in their own way. Saw a girl there once that had the almost exact same outfit Raquel Welch wore in "1,000,000 BC", stitched leather pieces and all. She wasn't any Raquel Welch but she did look nice. Too bad she was with some tall rasta/surfer dude with dreadlocks. Island Naturals is more about the scene than the food, although their buffet often has some excellent items.

This is what the back corner looked like (near the organic milk and frozen products) the last time I was in:

We love Island Naturals but..the other day some extremely thin older citizen of a planet close to Earth was cruising the serve-yourself area. He or she ate a sample off the serving spoon and decided not to buy, putting the spoon back in the food. Island Naturals, when I told them what I had observed, immediately replaced the tray. And then there was the the guy walking out the door with peacock feathers sticking out of his head. Folks, we are not at Safeway any longer.

Look like they went to Burning Man ?

Sounds like some awesome and interesting people.

To go to Burning Man, you have to create a living community in the desert for 2 weeks. Its hard to be an asshole and still accomplish that. I'll take a weirdo over an asshole any day.

Wow. That back corner IS trippy. Don't eat the brown rice from the self-serve area before going back there!

I've seen a fat, young, haole, slob, with Ubangi earlobe stretchers and numerous visible tattoos, carrying a MOLLE ACU backpack, walking a juvenile Pit Bull on a leash, entering Foodland in Kea'au, like he was walking into his own house...

As I exited the store the manager was seen hurrying after the dog walker.

What the hell is wrong with people and their dogs in grocery stores? Can't the dog stay home, if not in the car?
Service dogs? I'm all for service dogs, therapy dogs, rehabilitation dogs, and my own dogs provide me with these same benefits, but my dog[s] will remain in the vehicle, or at home. There's absolutely zero reason for me, or anyone else, except sight impaired people, to be escorted/accompanied through a grocery store by their dog.

I'm on the fence with "purse dogs" as long as they remain in the purse and are kept away from the shelves I can overlook it, but seriously folks, what the heck is it that makes people think they can bring dogs into a grocery store?

Fat is his choice. Young is not a crime. Haole is not by choice. Ubangi earlobes and tattoos also not a crime.

Its hard for me to feel bad about your experience when your post is such full of judgement and hate.

Although I agree with keeping dogs at home, I dont think being so judgemental of everything else is good.

I'll say it again,Ill take a weirdo over an asshole anyday.

I mentioned fat because I dislike seeing people who obviously never served a day in the military but use surplus gear. I earned mine.

Haole is a label, just like weirdo or asshole.

Ubangi ears and a plethora of tattoos yet having no vehicle or sense to leave your dog at home indicates an issue with priorities, and nowhere in my statement did I infer any criminality connected with body modification/decoration.

Judgment and hate?

Yet here you are judging and hating me?

Pot, meet kettle. Kettle, Pot.
