Why bust into a house with local families that barely scraping by when you can target retired old people that have expensive homes and cars?

It wouldn't be too hard to figure out who is old just by parking your car on the street and watching who drives in and out.

Ericlp,
You have been around a LONG time, so I am assuming this posting is not "trolling".
I think you had the light show on 9th or there abouts - it was wonderful!

This post sucks!

Your assumptions are erroneous and dangerous to the people who live in this area. Don't give me the "it's only true" logic either. Just because a lot did or will sell for a 100k, has no bearing on what is "inside". As far as the cars they drive, check out the next "jacked up" $50,000 plus fullsize pickup that passes you by and where it PARKS!

Remember Ericlp - getting "OLD" is a fact of life - you WILL someday be the person you are "TARGETING"!

Think ALOHA, live ALOHA!

I'm not opposed to you lawfully shooting a home invader Oneself. Although I wouldn't wish the emotional trauma and possible legal pitfalls involved with such an action on you , justified or not. You had better hope he's armed with a deadly weapon and you can prove fear for your life. That would be enough to exonerate you say in Texas, Hawaii I'm not so sure. Can you say golf ball gun? And even with that you better not hit him in the head. I'm all for you protecting yourself and wife's life. Just remember plenty of people who have committed justifiable homicide get to reflect on it in jail and to me even though the criminal looses so could you. With our screwed up legal system even someone Trying to break in to Eagle's house and getting mauled by the dobermans could cause him to loose his dogs and freedom.

I also noticed the weight estimate on the home invader description. I wonder if Oink knows how often people's estimation of weights and heights and ages are a close match when they catch the person. Not everybody is good at estimating those things accurately, and personal experience influences thing too. My students think of anyone over 25 as middle aged, and I think of any man under 6 foot as short because all the men in my family are tall.

lavalava is correct. You have every right to protect your home and property, and every right to be up front about it.

We have already had this discussion many times over. At the end of the day, if you choose to not protect your home, that is up to you. Me and many others, will.

Not in Hawaii. You better know the law before you try to be Mr. Clint Eastwood. The only way you can justify force against an intruder is if you can prove that your life was in danger. There are a few Clint Eastwoods in prison right now because of what they thought was their "right" to inflict force -- in the name of protecting their property. The burden of proof will be on you to prove that your life was in danger. THe law sucks. I too, think we should be able to assert force to anyone trying to steal from you. You could even be liable for injuries and damages if your dog bites an intruder. Hawaii is one of those stupid law states that tells the victim that you had every opportunity to run away.
