Has anyone else been watching the weather models?

Hi Harry
"I don't have any doubt that it is in our future"

Geo-engineering is already occuring on a grand scale without regard for the consequences - perhaps their is a good reason for it - if so I would like to know the reasons.

Harry, I don't think you should worry about "clogging up" discussion boards with info about the weather that affects us all. I mean, there's a whole thread about marmite! (as there should be, hikatz, if you need it).

I have long been a weather watcher and, for the most part, appreciate what I read on PW re: weather, including harryd's posts. Harry, do you know anything about eruption-generated weather? I have a vague notion of ions, +s, -s, etc. and have witnessed localized weather in connection with eruptive activity, primarily the 1984 Mauna Loa eruption. Is there any info that points to a connection between our recent heavy rains and the Pahoa flow?

Vance turned into a hurricane off the coast of Mexico. It has veered back to the socal coastline. There is a tropical storm to our south and it is sending a south wind with a lot of moisture. Kind of surprised there has been no flash flood warning, some heavy rain tonight.

Here's our blob at -128W http://www.prh.noaa.gov/hnl/satellite/EC...4_0730.gif

ECMWF is still weaker than the GFS. It also recurves our blob off to the northeast on Sunday. http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/...cpac_7.png

Here's the GFS solution, also for late Sunday http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/...pac_25.png

GFS for Wednesday the 12th http://www.tropicaltidbits.com/analysis/...pac_35.png

But, that's still a long time away... according to the local NWS discussion "THE OFFICIAL FORECAST CONTINUES TO DISCOUNT THE LONGER RANGE GFS SOLUTIONS...WITH THE NEW 00Z RUN CONTINUING TO DEVELOP A TROPICAL LOW S OF THE BIG ISLAND... AND MOVING IT NORTHWARD."

I'll write a bunch more tomorrow, just got back from a long day in Honolulu.

Sorry I had to run off Opihikabob. I don't know what you're getting at with your question/point about geo-engineering. Are you talking about carbon/methane or conspiracy? I know a bunch about the former and nothing about the later. Let me know...

harryd - best to ignore Bob as he'll start going on about conspiracies and weather manipulation by "them". Of course, if you want to engage him feel free to do so, but it'll sap your strength!

Hurricane Nuri, which was a CAT 5 for 24 hours, is forecast to merge with a cold front sweeping southeast from Siberia. The result is that Nuri will become a powerful extra-tropical storm in the Bering Sea. Maybe the most powerful/lowest pressure storm in the history of Alaska. The GFS bottoms the storm at 924mb and the ECMWF at 920mb. The current lowest pressure on record is 926mb. Wow!
This strong storm will pump up the high to it's south. Saturday's forecast shows a 1028mb high to our north instead of to our northwest. This will push a weak front over this state this weekend, and also push any tropical activity south towards the ITCZ.
Looking like a nice weekend instead of a storm
Into the longer term, the Climate Prediction Center shows the MJO in a positive state in the east and central Pacific through the next 3 weeks, but SSTs are dropping fast and I think the clock has run out for warm core systems to impact the island chain.
